SA update on high risk arrangements

South Australia has not yet implemented the National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work (the Standard). SafeWork SA is currently amending the Occupational Health, Safety and Welfare Regulations 1995 to incorporate the Standard's requirements and expects to introduce these as law in 2010.

The first step for registered training organisations wishing to deliver the licensing units of competency is to apply to the Department of Further Education, Employment Science and Technology to add the relevant units of competency to their scope of registration.

SafeWork SA will make the new Assessment Instruments available to its registered assessors once the new Standard becomes law in South Australia and once the instruments are accepted nationally as being mapped to the units of competency and meeting the requirements of the AQTF.
